IMC stars as Imperial College wins Sustainable FM Award.

Imperial College London has scooped the Sustainable FM Award 2010 for “Most Sustainable Public Sector Organisation – Education,” with the judges identifying IMC’s food waste recycling system as a key factor in the College’s success.
Over the past 2 years, Imperial College’s Soft Services team has introduced a diverse range of waste management initiatives, with the ultimate goal of setting the benchmark for the Education sector. One of the most recent of these has been the installation of IMC’s “CompPod”, a mobile building that is supplied fully equipped with everything required with which to convert the South Kensington Campus’s annual 50 plus tonnes of food waste into a high quality compost which can then be used on the Campus grounds.

Director of Facilities Management, Nick Roalfe, is delighted with the Award: “We have worked tirelessly to improve our recycling rate by more than 100% over the past 3 years and this highly regarded Award is the perfect recognition of our efforts.”
