Newcastle Student Union
Multi-million pound refurbishment The proliferation of high street bars with their drinks deals and promotions is directly affecting students’ union bars around the country. Fortunately there is a way of fighting back. The newly opened bars at Newcastle Students’ Union are a fantastic example. An £8 million refurbishment of the main building, which began in November 2010, has transformed the interior of one of the University’s most iconic buildings and significantly improved services for students. The building work saw all six floors given a full refurbishment and new facilities added. The Union building hosts both the 225 capacity Mens bar and 1200 capacity Venue bars to cater for students day and night, all requiring a variety of both alcoholic and...
JAL Tower
The hotel was designed with the business and leisure guest in mind and features an array of facilities and services to meet the guest requirements for comfort, luxury, elegance, stress free business, culinary delights and so much more. The customer is always the staff’s first priority and having face-to-face contact with customers while serving a range of both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks is paramount. IMC’s work-station concept allows the bar staff to be in direct contact with the customer throughout the drink serving process enabling them to build rapport with the customer and to reflect the atmosphere of the hotel. Looking for bar equipment that offered synergy with its interior, yet still providing high performing and durable...
Judsons in Pocklington
Judsons in Pocklington, East Yorkshire opened for business on the 15th Dec 2010. Businessman Peter Ward converted the old Square pub and buildings into a modern, contemporary bar & restaurant. The ground floor has a light and airy bar, full of character, serving a large selection of continental beers and real ales. If it’s a cocktail you like, Judsons can certainly cater for your needs while you relax in the sumptuous lounge area. Judson’s also boasts both public and private dining with the additional of three individual rooms located on the second floor. This is Peter’s second business in town and most of the equipment for both establishments has been supplied by Wards of York, a local commercial catering equipment...
Sakura
The recently open Sakura restaurant housed in Exchange Flags, a stunning location right in the centre of Liverpool’s commercial district offers dining and entertaining within one spectacular venue. Sakura (Cherry blossom in Japanese) has a sophisticated and unique mix of classic and modern Japanese cuisine. It was this requirement to maintain the right blend of refinement and style through to the bar area that the designers, Kitchen Logistics, chose IMC’s Bartender system. With 42 staff and 18 chefs on site this £1.2m development is now one of the hottest restaurants in the North West, with a capacity for over 300 people, IMC’S bar equipment ensures the finest cocktails in the city can be created by resident mixoligist Jean Ferreura Rodriguez. ...
UEA 8 Years On
The Union Pub and Bar opened in September 2002, following a massive £1.2m extension and refurbishment. By acquiring the defunct 'Breakers II' restaurant from the University, they were able to double the space available for drinkers. Heron Design were chosen to refit the building, with a concept that was bright and durable. The Union Pub/Bar is the hub of social life on campus at UEA and boasts one of the longest bars in Norfolk, providing the usual Pub like services and it is also host to a wide selection of special events. The bar itself was equipped with IMC’s Bartender underbar system, Mistral and Barcooler bottle coolers and after only a year of use, sales were way up on previous years. The Union started using the bar and pub in new...
New Orchid Garden
On the 13th of October 2009 Stan closed the doors and ventured on what can be described as an ambitious plan. The plan was to increase the dining capacity of his restaurant by 60% and create an addition lounge area while vastly enhancing the whole dining experience, all in a space of just 13 days. The plan entailed totally refitting the main restaurant bar plus adding a pre and post drinks area upstairs. Stan chose IMC’s Bartender range of stainless steel underbar equipment for the main restaurant bar as this would be the busier of the two. The upstairs would utilise IMC’s F2 system primarily as space was at a premium. [ On the 27th October Stan open the doors on what he describe as a “beast”. Within days the number of drinks served had increase by 78%....
Luton Hoo
Bedfordshire’s most treasured historic house has recently been brought to life in a multi-million pound refurbishment to become one of England’s finest spa hotels, Luton Hoo. The building itself is grade 1 listed so when it came to the interior refurbishments, only the highest quality specifications would complement the elegant and opulent architecture. Central to the hotel’s requirements were its facilities encompassing the bars, restaurants and brasseries. Looking for bar equipment that offered synergy with its interior, yet still providing high performing and durable bar applications, IMC provided the service and quality Luton Hoo was looking for, and as an under bar specialist, IMC was able to fulfill the brief to fully equip all the bars in the hotel and leisure...
Manchester Utd
Recent record-breaking attendances at Manchester United’s Old Trafford are the result of two newly-built quadrant stands. The North East and North West Stands flank the existing North Stand and provide high-earning executive dining and bar facilities with additional seating for 7,000 spectators. A complex £950,000 catering scheme built on seven levels - broadly mirrored in each quadrant - was designed by Tricon Foodservice Consultants and supplied, project managed and installed by Chester-based C&C Catering Equipment. Five kitchens service six substantial restaurants, matchday executive suites (each providing full hospitality for up to 16 guests) and nine bars, with eight concession outlets on level four. Themed restaurants, lounges and bars celebrate Manchester...
Winchester SU
The proliferation of high street bars with their drinks deals and promotions are directly affecting the student union bars around the country. Fortunately there is a way of fighting back. The newly opened Terrace and Vault bars at Winchester are a fantastic example. Tom Manville runs the Terrace Bar which is their main day bar and also the 2 bars located in the Vault, a 600 capacity multi purpose event venue, with the latter being utilised by the university itself to host conferences and seminars. All 3 Bars are equipped with IMC stainless steel underbar systems and refrigeration to cope with the great variation in trade and drinks options. Bar Manager Tom Manville states “Since the opening of both bars in October we have had a great deal of success pulling people back from...
