About Us

History

The original company was founded in 1906 by Harold Beckett, the grandfather of the late Richard Beckett.

The early products manufactured were potato peelers and silver burnishers. In fact, IMC was the first company to produce a peeler with an integral electric motor. In 1956, IMC introduced a range of food waste disposers, an idea that was years ahead of its time in Europe. The kitchen machinery product range then grew through the introduction of waste compactors and the PC1 chipper in the 1970s, Pot Boy, pre-rinse sprays and M Range universal peelers in the 1980s and SYS2000 and WastePro waste treatment systems in the 1990s.

In 1984, IMC diversified into bar equipment, with the launch of the Bartender stainless steel underbar system. Barcooler modular backbar refrigeration was introduced two years later, followed by Barkeller and BK top-loading bottle and can coolers, 'Frostar' glass frosters and Mistral single and double door bottle coolers.

IMC's future is underpinned by ongoing investment in new product development: The PC2 chipper, MF Peelers, M135 & MC90 bottle coolers, F2 bar system and the SP peelers have all been launched in the past few years.

In 2006, IMC combined all of its manufacturing into one site in Wrexham. The investment in this new facility and the new infrastructure ensured IMC continued to provide products that combine quality and style with value for money and peace of mind. On October 8th 2007 The Princess Royal officially opened the new manufacturing plant and headquarters and helped us celebrate our centenary.

2006 also saw significant investment in the company’s UK factory with many new products launched including the VP and VQ range of potato peelers, the CS range of chip shop equipment, the Ventus and Hurricane range of bottle coolers, the BM range of top loading bottle coolers and a multi-award winning food waste composting system.

At the end of May 2011 IMC became a wholly owned subsidiary of Middleby Corporation which marks the beginning of another exciting chapter at IMC.
